NAAN BREAD MARGHERITA PIZZA WITH PROSCIUTTO

Naan Bread Margherita Pizza with Prosciutto image

This is one of my favorite friday night dishes. This pizza is quick, simple and delicious. Instead of making the pizza dough from scratch I decided to use naan bread for the pizza base. Using naan bread not only saves time but it is great for portion control. The only difference between this recipe and most pizza recipes is that It doesn't include a tomato sauce on the base. I don't like the sogginess that comes from the sauce, but feel free to try it with the sauce as it will still yield good results.

NO-KNEAD FLATBREADS - MASTER RECIPE (PIZZA, NAAN, FOCACCIA)

No-Knead Flatbreads - Master Recipe (Pizza, Naan, Focaccia) image

This rich oilive oil dough can be used to make a variety of flatbreads, pizza, calzones, lavash, naan and focaccia. Mix enough dough for several loaves and store in the refrigerator for up to 12 days. The fruitier the olive oil the better the flavor. This recipe come from the Artesian Bread in Five Minutes a Day cookbook. Use this dough to make: Recipe #310451 or Recipe #388861 or Recipe #387527 or Recipe #387678 or how about Recipe #387780. UPDATE 9/09: used this crust to make a Recipe #363140 on the grill Recipe #322248 and it was fantastic! NOTE: Best made with white flour, however if you must substitute whole wheat, only replace half, or use Recipe #317560

Categories     Yeast Breads

Time 7m

Yield 4 1 pound loaves

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 1/2 cups lukewarm water
1 1/2 tablespoons granulated yeast
1 1/2 tablespoons kosher salt or 1 tablespoon table salt
1 tablespoon sugar
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
6 1/2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour (29.25 oz.)

Steps:

  • Mixing and Storing the Dough:.
  • Note: If measuring flour rather than weighing, don't press down into the flour as you scoop it in with dry-ingredient measuring cups, By gently scooping up flour, then sweeping the top level with a knife or spatula.you willl get a more accurate measurement.
  • In large plastic storage container (with lid) mix together the flour, yeast, sugar and salt.
  • Add all the water and olive oil at once and mix with a wooden spoon.
  • If mixing becomes too difficult to incorporate all the flour with the spoon, reach into the mixing bowl with very wet hands and press the mixture together. Note: kneading isn't necessary.
  • When everything is uniformly moist without dry patches your mixing is complete. This should take only a few minutes.
  • The dough will be wet and loose enough to conform to the shape of its container.
  • Cover with a lid (not airtight) that fits well on the container. Allow the mixture to rise at room temperature until it begins to collapse, or at least flattens on the top, about 2 hours, depending on the room's temperature and the initial water temperature. Longer rising times, up to about 5 hours, will not harm the result.
  • You can use a portion of the dough anytime after this period. Fully refrigerated wet dough is less sticky and easier to work with than dough at room temperature. So the first time you try this method, it's best to refrigerate the dough overnight, or at least 3 hours, before shaping a loaf.
  • The breads flavor improves with the retardation, so suggest you wait at least 24 hours before baking the first loaf! Dough may be stored in the refrigerator for up to 12 days.

NAAN BBQ CHICKEN PIZZA RECIPE - (4.5/5)

Naan BBQ Chicken Pizza Recipe - (4.5/5) image

Provided by sillymom

Number Of Ingredients 6

4 Pieces Trader Joe's Tandoori Naan
1/2 cup barbecue sauce
1/4 cup thinly sliced red onion
1 cup cooked, shredded chicken breast
1 cup shredded low fat cheddar cheese
Garlic salt

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 425. 2. Lay out each Naan. Cover each with all but 1 Tbsp. BBQ sauce, red onions, chicken, cheese, and a sprinkle of garlic salt. Then drizzle the top of each pizza with the remaining BBQ sauce. 3. Place them in the oven, directly on the rack, and cook about 8 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and the Naan is crisp with golden edges. 4. Enjoy!

Tips:

  • Choose the right dough: Naan dough is typically made with a combination of all-purpose flour, yogurt, baking powder, and salt. You can find pre-made naan dough in most grocery stores, or you can make your own dough at home. If you are making your own dough, be sure to let it rise for at least an hour before using it.
  • Use a hot oven: Naan pizzas are best cooked in a very hot oven, at least 500 degrees Fahrenheit. This will help to create a crispy crust and prevent the pizza from becoming soggy.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan: When cooking naan pizzas, be sure to leave enough space between each pizza so that they can cook evenly. Overcrowding the pan will prevent the pizzas from cooking properly.
  • Watch the cooking time: Naan pizzas cook very quickly, so it is important to watch them closely. Once the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted, the pizza is done.
  • Top your pizza with your favorite ingredients: Naan pizzas can be topped with a variety of ingredients, such as cheese, vegetables, meat, and sauce. Be creative and experiment with different toppings to find your favorite combinations.

Conclusion:

Naan pizzas are a delicious and easy-to-make meal that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. With a little practice, you can make naan pizzas that are just as good as the ones you get from your favorite restaurant. So next time you are looking for a quick and easy meal, try making a naan pizza. You won't be disappointed.
