Provided by Darlene Summers

Categories     Corn

Time 55m

Yield 8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 (17 ounce) can creamed corn
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup milk
3 eggs
1/4 cup melted butter (may use margarine, butter is better)
salt
2 teaspoons butter or 2 teaspoons margarine, softened

Steps:

  • Combine corn, flour, sugar, milk, eggs & 1/4 cup of butter in bowl.
  • Mix thoroughly.
  • Pour into 1 1/2 quart casserole greased with remaining 2 teaspoons of butter.
  • Bake at 375° for 45 minutes or till set.

Tips:

  • Use fresh corn. Fresh corn is sweeter and has a better flavor than canned or frozen corn. If you don't have fresh corn, you can use canned or frozen corn, but be sure to drain it well before using.
  • Use a cast iron skillet. A cast iron skillet is the best pan for corn pudding because it distributes heat evenly and cooks the pudding evenly. If you don't have a cast iron skillet, you can use a regular baking dish, but be sure to grease it well.
  • Don't overcook the corn pudding. Corn pudding is done when it is set in the center and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Overcooking will make the corn pudding dry and tough.
  • Serve the corn pudding warm. Corn pudding is best served warm, but it can also be served at room temperature or cold. If you are serving the corn pudding cold, be sure to bring it to room temperature before serving.

Conclusion:

Nanny's Corn Pudding is a delicious and easy-to-make side dish that is perfect for any occasion. It is a classic Southern recipe that is loved by people of all ages. With its creamy texture, sweet corn flavor, and crispy crust, Nanny's Corn Pudding is sure to be a hit at your next gathering.
