SWEDISH MEATLOAF
This recipe, in response to a request, is from a 1916 Campbell's Cookbook. It is one of our favorites - I usually double the sour cream and add a can of button mushrooms to the sauce, but i posted the recipe as it is printed in the cookbook. Enjoy!

Tips for Making a Delicious Nutmeg Loaf:
- Use fresh nutmeg. Freshly grated nutmeg has a more intense flavor than pre-ground nutmeg. If you don't have fresh nutmeg, use ½ teaspoon of pre-ground nutmeg.
- Don't overmix the batter. Overmixing the batter will make the loaf tough. Mix the batter just until the ingredients are combined.
- Bake the loaf at the right temperature. The loaf should be baked at 350 degrees Fahrenheit. If the oven is too hot, the loaf will brown too quickly and the inside will be undercooked. If the oven is too cool, the loaf will not brown properly.
- Test the loaf for doneness. Insert a toothpick into the center of the loaf. If the toothpick comes out clean, the loaf is done. If the toothpick comes out with wet batter, the loaf needs to bake for a few more minutes.
- Let the loaf cool before slicing. Let the loaf cool in the pan for 10 minutes before turning it out onto a wire rack to cool completely. This will help the loaf hold its shape.
Conclusion:
Nutmeg loaf is a delicious and easy-to-make treat that is perfect for any occasion. With its moist crumb and sweet, nutty flavor, nutmeg loaf is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy dessert, give nutmeg loaf a try. You won't be disappointed!
