PEPPERONI PIZZA STICKS

These soft and chewy breadsticks are filled with cheese and pepperoni in every bite. They are great for lunch, snacks, appetizers, and grab-n-go dinners. They are fun to make with kids and the kids have even more fun eating them! My kids love these! Serve with a salad for a complete meal. You can cheat and use refrigerated pizza dough from the stores, but I like to make my own.

Time 30m

Yield 16 pizza sticks, 8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 13

2 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons oil
1 cup warm water
2 1/4 teaspoons yeast
8 mozzarella string cheese, cut in half
48 slices pepperoni
2 tablespoons butter, melted
2 teaspoons grated parmesan cheese
1/2 teaspoon italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
pizza sauce, for dipping

Steps:

  • Make pizza dough: Mix the yeast in with the warm water. Combine all other dough ingredients in a mixing bowl. Add yeast water. Mix well with a dough hook. Add more flour if it is too sticky. Let sit for 5 minutes.
  • Roll dough out on a lightly floured surface into a large rectangle.
  • Cut dough into 16 even rectangles.
  • Place 3 slices of pepperoni and 1 cheese stick on each.
  • Seal the dough well around the pepperoni and cheese so the cheese won't melt out. Repeat with all of them.
  • Place on a lightly greased baking sheet or a stone.
  • Brush each one with the melted butter.
  • Combine the seasonings and evenly sprinkle over each stick.
  • Bake at 375 degrees for about 18 minutes or until lightly golden brown.
  • Serve with warm pizza sauce for dipping, if desired.

CHEESY PEPPERONI PIZZA STICKS

Cheesy Pepperoni Pizza Sticks image

I saw this on Facebook and thought it sounded like a perfect appetizer for snacking on while watching a football game. It's just a step above the baked cheese sticks we usually order at our favorite sports bar. I changed the herbs so it incorporated more of our favorite Italian herbs. But the recipe can easily be adjusted...

Time 25m

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 (13.8oz) tube(s) refrigerated pizza crust dough
40 pepperoni slices
10 mozzarella cheese sticks
2 Tbsp unsalted butter
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp dried parsley
1/2 tsp dried oregano leaves
1 cup marinara sauce, for dipping (optional)

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 450°F.
  • 2. Roll pizza dough on a lightly greased baking sheet to form a large rectangle. Using a pizza cutter, slice the dough (width-wise) down the center. Then cut both halves into 5 rows each, so you have 10 equal size dough rectangles.
  • 3. Arrange 4 pepperoni slices on each rectangle, then place a cheese stick on top of the pepperoni slices. Roll the dough around the cheese stick, and pinch the edges to seal the pepperoni and cheese inside.
  • 4. In a saucepan, melt the butter. Stir the garlic powder and parsley into the butter. Brush the dough with the garlic butter.
  • 5. Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until the dough is a light golden brown. Serve as is, or you can serve them with marinara sauce for dipping.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients for the best flavor. This includes using fresh mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, and pizza sauce.
  • Be sure to proof the yeast before using it. This will help to ensure that the dough rises properly.
  • Knead the dough until it is smooth and elastic. This will help to develop the gluten in the dough, which will make it chewy and flavorful.
  • Let the dough rise in a warm place until it has doubled in size. This will help to develop the flavor of the dough and make it easier to work with.
  • When rolling out the dough, be sure to do so on a lightly floured surface. This will help to prevent the dough from sticking.
  • Bake the pizza sticks at a high temperature for a short amount of time. This will help to create a crispy crust and prevent the cheese from becoming overcooked.
  • Serve the pizza sticks with your favorite dipping sauce. Marinara sauce, ranch dressing, or blue cheese dressing are all great choices.

Conclusion:

Pepperoni pizza sticks are a delicious and easy-to-make snack or appetizer. They are perfect for parties or game day gatherings. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can make your own pepperoni pizza sticks that are sure to be a hit with everyone.
