PINEAPPLE, ORANGE, MANGO, BANANA SMOOTHIE

Pineapple, Orange, Mango, Banana Smoothie image

I make this delkcious smoothie every single morning, and not only is it an extremely healthy way to start the day but it's also very quick & simple to make! The added protein powder replaces any high-calorie protein that you might normally have on the morning (eggs, bacon, sausage, etc) and it will help keep you full longer than if it were just a pure fruit smoothie. I buy the frozen pineapple and mango chunks from Costco, and each week I buy a bunch of ripe bananas and peel them, cut them in half and throw them in a bag in the freezer. Then it takes me less than 5 mins to make it in the morning. And this has also replaced my morning coffee habit of 2 cups a day because I add 1/8 tsp of caffeine powder to it as well.

PINEAPPLE BANANA-OAT SMOOTHIE

Pineapple Banana-Oat Smoothie image

A delicious glass of tropical sunshine! The oats and flax seed add a nice thickness as well as added nutrition. Oats have a higher level of soluble fiber than other grains. Some other benefits of adding oats to your smoothie is the fact that they lower cholesterol, and are soothing to the digestive process. I like to blend the oats and flax in my liquid first, just to make sure they are pureed well. Then add your fruit!

PINEAPPLE BANANA MINT SMOOTHIE

Pineapple Banana Mint Smoothie image

This tangy, minty smoothie may have more adult appeal than kid appeal, but it's certainly one of my favorites. I particularly like it made with almond milk. The pineapple in this drink will give you your daily requirement for manganese, and it's a good source of vitamins C, B1, B6, copper and dietary fiber.

Provided by Martha Stewart

Categories     Food & Cooking     Breakfast & Brunch Recipes

Time 5m

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 8-ounce can crushed pineapple in juice
1 banana
1 6-ounce container plain nonfat yogurt
1/2 cup ice cubes
Grated nutmeg

Steps:

  • In a blender, combine crushed pineapple with juice, banana, yogurt, and ice cubes. Puree until smooth. Sprinkle with grated nutmeg and serve.

Nutrition Facts : Calories 168 g, Protein 6 g

Tips:

  • Use frozen fruits: Frozen fruits give the smoothie a thicker, creamier texture. If you're using fresh fruits, freeze them for at least 2 hours before blending.
  • Add a scoop of yogurt or protein powder: Yogurt or protein powder will make the smoothie more filling and nutritious. It's a great option for breakfast or a post-workout snack.
  • Use fresh or frozen spinach: Spinach adds a boost of nutrients to the smoothie without overpowering the flavor. If you're using fresh spinach, be sure to wash it thoroughly before blending.
  • Add a squeeze of lemon or lime juice: Lemon or lime juice adds a pop of brightness and flavor to the smoothie. It also helps to prevent the smoothie from browning.
  • Sweeten the smoothie with honey or maple syrup: If you need to sweeten the smoothie, use a natural sweetener like honey or maple syrup. Avoid using refined sugar, which is less healthy.
