Tips:

  • Use a candy thermometer to accurately measure the temperature of the sugar syrup. This will ensure that the candy reaches the right consistency and prevents it from crystallizing.
  • If you don't have a candy thermometer, you can use the cold water test. To do this, drop a small amount of the hot sugar syrup into a bowl of cold water. If the syrup forms a soft ball that holds its shape, it is ready.
  • Be careful when working with hot sugar syrup. It can cause severe burns if it comes into contact with your skin.
  • Line the baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat to prevent the candy from sticking.
  • Work quickly when pouring the hot sugar syrup onto the baking sheet. The candy will start to set quickly, so you need to spread it out evenly before it hardens.
  • Let the candy cool completely before breaking it into pieces. This will help to prevent it from becoming sticky.
  • Store the candy in an airtight container in a cool, dry place. It will keep for up to two weeks.

Pioneer potato candy is a sweet and nostalgic treat that is easy to make at home. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a delicious candy that will be enjoyed by people of all ages. So next time you're looking for a fun and easy dessert, give pioneer potato candy a try!
