Tips:

  • Use a variety of potatoes for different textures and flavors. Russet potatoes are a good choice for baking, while Yukon Gold potatoes are great for roasting or mashing. Red potatoes have a waxy texture that holds up well in salads.
  • Don't be afraid to experiment with different seasonings and herbs. Garlic, rosemary, thyme, and paprika are all great additions to potato dishes.
  • If you're making mashed potatoes, use a ricer to get the smoothest texture. You can also add a little milk or cream to make them extra creamy.
  • When roasting potatoes, toss them with olive oil and salt and pepper before baking. This will help them get crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.
  • If you're making potato salad, use a mayonnaise-based dressing. Add celery, onion, and hard-boiled eggs for a classic flavor combination.
