PAN ROASTED BRUSSELS SPROUTS WITH BACON

Pan Roasted Brussels Sprouts with Bacon image

Sunny Anderson's Pan-Roasted Brussels Sprouts with Bacon recipe takes the bitter green vegetable to salty-sweet heights, and you need only four ingredients.

Provided by Sunny Anderson

Categories     side-dish

Time 25m

Yield 4 to 6 servings

Number Of Ingredients 5

4 strips thick-cut bacon
2 tablespoons butter
1 pound Brussels sprouts, halved
1/2 large onion, chopped
Salt and freshly ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Cook bacon in a large skillet over medium-high heat until crispy. Remove to a paper towel-lined plate, then roughly chop. In same pan with bacon fat, melt butter over high heat. Add onions and Brussels Sprouts and cook, stirring occasionally, until sprouts are golden brown, 8 to 10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper, to taste, and toss bacon back into pan. Serve immediately.

Tips:

  • Cut the vegetables evenly: This will help them cook evenly and prevent some pieces from becoming overdone while others are still undercooked.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan: If you overcrowd the pan, the vegetables will steam instead of roast and won't get crispy.
  • Roast the vegetables at a high temperature: This will help them caramelize and get crispy.
  • Season the vegetables well: Salt, pepper, and garlic powder are all good options.
  • Add some bacon or pancetta: This will add a smoky, savory flavor to the vegetables.
  • Serve the vegetables immediately: Roasted vegetables are best served hot and fresh out of the oven.

Conclusion:

Roasted Brussels sprouts and cauliflower with bacon is a delicious and healthy side dish that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. It's easy to make and can be customized to your own taste preferences. Whether you like your vegetables crispy or tender, roasted Brussels sprouts and cauliflower is a surefire hit. So next time you're looking for a healthy and flavorful side dish, give this recipe a try.
