Tips:

  • Choose the right potatoes: Select firm, thin-skinned potatoes for crispy peels. Varieties like Yukon Gold, Red Bliss, and fingerling potatoes work well.
  • Scrub and dry the potatoes: Clean the potatoes thoroughly to remove any dirt or debris. Pat them dry with a paper towel to help the peels crisp up.
  • Slice the potatoes thinly: Use a sharp knife or mandoline to slice the potatoes into thin, even strips. This will ensure they cook evenly and crisp up nicely.
  • Toss the peels in oil and seasonings: Coat the potato peels in olive oil or melted butter and your desired seasonings. Common options include salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and chili powder.
  • Spread the peels in a single layer: Arrange the potato peels in a single layer on a baking sheet to ensure they cook evenly and become crispy.
  • Roast at a high temperature: Preheat your oven to 400-425°F (200-220°C) to achieve crispy peels. Roast the potato peels for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  • Keep an eye on the peels: Check on the potato peels during roasting to prevent burning. Adjust the cooking time based on the thickness of the peels and your desired level of crispiness.

Conclusion:

Roasted potato peels are a delicious and versatile snack or side dish that can be enjoyed on their own or paired with various dipping sauces. They are a great way to use up leftover potato peels and reduce food waste. Experiment with different seasonings and toppings to create a variety of flavor combinations. These crispy potato treats are sure to be a hit at your next gathering.
