Categories     Vegetable     Side

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 lb green beans, frozen okay but try to find thin ones
1 tbsp olive oil
salt and pepper
1 tbsp minced garlic
1 tsp minced ginger
2tsp honey
1/2 tsp toasted sesame oil
1/4 tsp hot red pepper flakes
4 tsp toasted sesame seeds

Steps:

  • Combine garlic through red pepper flakes and set aside. Adjust oven rack to middle; heat ove to 450 degrees. Line rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil. Spread beans on sheet and drizzle with oil, coating evenly. Sprinkle with salt, toss to coat, and distribute in even layer. Roast 10 minutes. Remove baking sheet from oven. Using tongs, coat with glaze. Redistribute in even layer. Continue roasting until dark golden brown in spots and starting to shrivel, 10 to 12 minutes longer. Adjust seasoning with salt and toss well to combine. Transfer to serving dish, sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve.

Tips:

  • Choose fresh green beans. Look for beans that are bright green and crisp. Avoid beans that are wilted or have brown spots.
  • Trim the green beans. Remove the ends of the green beans, where the stem was attached.
  • Blanch the green beans. This step is optional, but it helps to preserve the green color of the beans and makes them more tender. To blanch the green beans, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the green beans and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until they are bright green. Drain the beans and immediately transfer them to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process.
  • Roast the green beans. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. Toss the green beans with olive oil, sesame oil, soy sauce, honey, and garlic powder. Spread the green beans in a single layer on a baking sheet and roast for 15-20 minutes, or until they are tender and slightly charred.
  • Garnish and serve. Sprinkle the roasted green beans with sesame seeds and green onions before serving.

Conclusion:

Roasted sesame green beans are a delicious and healthy side dish that is perfect for any occasion. They are easy to make and can be customized to your liking. The tips above will help you make the best roasted sesame green beans possible. Enjoy!
