ROOT BEER PULLED PORK NACHOS

I count on my slow cooker to do the honors when I have a house full of summer guests. Teenagers especially love DIY nachos. Try cola, ginger ale or lemon-lime soda if you're not into root beer. -James Schend, Taste of Home Deputy Editor

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 boneless pork shoulder butt roast (3-4 lbs)
1 (12 oz) can root beer, cola, ginger ale or lemon-lime soda
12 cups tortilla chips
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
2 medium tomatoes, chopped
Pico de gallo, chopped green onions and sliced jalapeno peppers, optional

Steps:

  • 1. In a 4 or 5 qt slow cooker, combine pork roast and root beer. Cook, covered, on low until meat is tender, 8-9 hours. 2. Remove roast; cool slightly. When cool enough to handle, shred meat with two forks. Return to slow cookder; keep warm. 3. To serve, drain pork. Layer tortilla chips with the pork, cheese, tomatoes and, if desired, optional toppings. Serve immediately.

Tips:

  • To make the most flavorful pulled pork, use a combination of pork肩胛肉 and pork腹肉. Pork shoulder is a tough cut of meat, but it becomes incredibly tender when cooked slowly. Pork belly adds richness and flavor to the pork.
  • Use a good quality root beer for the pulled pork. A cheap root beer will not have the same flavor as a more expensive one. Look for a root beer that is made with real sugar and has a strong flavor.
  • Cook the pulled pork on low heat for a long time. This will allow the flavors to develop and the meat to become fall-apart tender.
  • Don't be afraid to experiment with different toppings for your nachos. Some popular options include cheese, sour cream, salsa, guacamole, and Pico de Gallo. You can also add your favorite BBQ sauce or hot sauce.

Conclusion:

Root beer pulled pork nachos are a delicious and easy-to-make party food. They are perfect for game day, potlucks, or any other casual gathering. With a few simple ingredients, you can create a dish that is sure to please everyone. So next time you are looking for a fun and flavorful appetizer, give root beer pulled pork nachos a try.
