Time 2h

Yield 18 rolls

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 cups flour
1 tablespoon skim milk powder
2 teaspoons dried yeast
1 tablespoon olive oil
200 ml water
2 teaspoons mixed Italian herbs
4 garlic cloves, crushed
1/2 cup parmesan cheese, grated

Steps:

  • Add flour, milk powder, yeast, olive oil, and water to your bread machine, and set to the "dough" setting. When your machine beeps, add the cheese, herbs and garlic.
  • When dough is ready, divide into 18 pieces, shape into rolls, and arrange on a greased oven tray. Spray a piece of cling wrap with olive oil, and place over top of rolls. Sit in a warm place, and allow to rise (around 15-20 minutes).
  • Bake at 180C for around 20 minutes, or until golden brown.

Tips:

  • When prepping the dough, ensure the liquids are not overly hot as this can kill yeast and affect the rising process.
  • For best results use fresh herbs and adjust measurements to suit your personal taste preferences.
  • If the dough seems too wet initially, adding a little flour at a time can help achieve the desired consistency.
  • Use a rolling pin to roll the dough out evenly and consistently.
  • Brushing the rolls with egg wash before baking creates a golden-brown glossy appearance.
  • To prevent the rolls from drying out while baking, place a pan filled with water at the bottom of the oven.
  • Allow the rolls to cool slightly before slicing and serving for easier handling.

Conclusion:

These herb rolls are a delightful combination of flavors and textures that are perfect for any occasion. The soft and fluffy interior complements the aromatic herbs perfectly. With the help of a bread machine, the process is simplified allowing for convenient and delicious homemade rolls. Whether served fresh from the oven with a pat of butter or incorporated into a sandwich, these rolls will surely be a hit. Experimenting with different herb combinations opens up endless possibilities to suit various palates and preferences. So, gather your ingredients, preheat your oven, and embark on a delightful baking journey!
