1 1/2 pounds 80% lean ground beef chuck
Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
8 thin slices cheddar cheese (optional)
4 soft sesame buns, split
Bibb lettuce and sliced tomato, for topping

Turn and grill until the other side is marked and the patties feel firm, 3 to 5 more minutes; if desired, top each burger with 2 slices cheese during the last 2 minutes of cooking and cover with a disposable aluminum pan to melt.

SAVORY BEEF SANDWICHES

Savory Beef Sandwiches image

Before heading to work in the morning, I'll get this going in the slow cooker. Then it's all ready to serve-usually with hard rolls and potato salad or another salad-as soon as my husband and I walk in. When my son moved to another state recently, I cut up beef roast in smaller portions, repackaged it and sent seasonings for a two-person slow cooker as his housewarming present. -Lynn Williamson, Hayward, Wisconsin

Tips:

  • Choose the right beef: Use ground chuck or sirloin for a juicy, flavorful burger. Ground round is a leaner option, but it can be a bit dry if not cooked properly.
  • Season the beef well: Don't be shy with the salt and pepper. You can also add other spices, such as garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, or chili powder.
  • Mix the beef gently: Overmixing the beef will make it tough. Just mix it until the ingredients are combined.
  • Form the patties gently: Use your hands to form the patties, and don't press down on them too hard. This will also make them tough.
  • Cook the burgers over medium-high heat: This will help to create a nice crust on the outside while keeping the inside juicy.
  • Don't overcook the burgers: Cook the burgers until they reach an internal temperature of 160 degrees Fahrenheit for medium-rare, 165 degrees Fahrenheit for medium, or 170 degrees Fahrenheit for well-done.
  • Let the burgers rest before serving: This will help the juices to redistribute throughout the burger, making it more tender and flavorful.

Conclusion:

Savory beef burgers are a delicious and versatile meal that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. With so many different ways to prepare them, there's sure to be a recipe that everyone will love. Whether you like your burgers simple or loaded with toppings, cooked on the grill or in the oven, there's a perfect savory beef burger recipe out there for you.
