Tips:

  • Select ripe avocados: Choose avocados that are slightly soft when pressed gently and have a dark green or almost black skin color.
  • Cut avocados properly: To prevent browning, slice avocados just before serving. Use a sharp knife to cut the avocado in half lengthwise, remove the pit, and then slice or dice the flesh.
  • Add acidity: To prevent the avocado from browning, add a squeeze of lemon or lime juice. This will also enhance the flavor of the salad.
  • Use fresh ingredients: Use fresh, seasonal ingredients for the best flavor. This includes ripe tomatoes, crisp cucumbers, and flavorful herbs.
  • Don't overdress the salad: A light dressing is best for an avocado salad. Too much dressing will overwhelm the delicate flavor of the avocado.
  • Serve immediately: Avocado salad is best served immediately after it is made. The avocado will start to brown after a while, so it's best to enjoy it fresh.
