Time 5m

Yield 15-20 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

12 ounces orange juice concentrate
12 ounces lemonade concentrate
3 cups red sloe gin
9 cups water
1 1/2 cups sugar

Steps:

  • Stir all together and freeze.
  • To serve, scoop into tall glasses 3/4 full and fill up with 7up, Sprite or Squirt.

Tips:

  • Choose ripe sloes: The best time to pick sloes is in late autumn, when they are fully ripe and have a deep purple color. Avoid using unripe sloes, as they will be bitter and astringent.
  • Prick the sloes: Before adding the sloes to the gin, prick them with a fork or toothpick. This will help to release their juices and flavor.
  • Use a good quality gin: The type of gin you use will have a big impact on the flavor of the sloe gin. Choose a gin that you enjoy drinking neat, as this will ensure that the sloe gin is also delicious.
  • Be patient: Sloe gin takes time to mature. It is best to leave it for at least 3 months, but it can be aged for up to a year. The longer you age it, the more complex and flavorful it will become.
  • Serve chilled: Sloe gin is best served chilled. It can be enjoyed on its own, or used in cocktails and mixed drinks.

Conclusion:

Sloe gin is a delicious and versatile liqueur that is easy to make at home. With a little patience, you can create a unique and flavorful spirit that you can enjoy for years to come. So next time you have a few spare sloes, give sloe gin a try. You won't be disappointed!
