Tips:

  • Choose the right type of wild rice. There are two main types of wild rice: long-grain and short-grain. Long-grain wild rice is more commonly used in soups and salads, while short-grain wild rice is better for pilafs and casseroles.
  • Rinse the wild rice thoroughly before cooking. This will help to remove any dirt or debris from the rice.
  • Soak the wild rice before cooking. This will help to reduce the cooking time and make the rice more tender.
  • Use a slow cooker to cook the soup. A slow cooker is a great way to make soup because it allows the flavors to develop over time. You can also cook the soup on the stovetop if you prefer.
  • Add your favorite vegetables to the soup. Some good options include carrots, celery, onions, potatoes, and corn.
  • Season the soup to taste. You can add salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika to taste.
