2 teaspoons minced fresh rosemary
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
Freshly ground black pepper
One 16-ounce jar pepperoncini
2 cups beef broth
2 tablespoons salted butter
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 large onions, sliced
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
Freshly ground black pepper
6 soft hoagie rolls, split

FRENCH ONION DIP SANDWICHES (SLOW COOKER)

French Onion Dip Sandwiches (Slow Cooker) image

This combines the greatness that is French onion soup with French dips. It is not supposed to be an 'authentic' French dip recipe, because authentic is often boring. These are yummy sandwiches for those that like roast beef and French onion soup. It is mainly on the slow cooker, but it requires a bit of prep on the stove, too.

5 tablespoons olive oil, divided
2 large onions, thinly sliced

  • Choose the right cut of beef. Chuck roast, brisket, and short ribs are all good choices for slow cooker French onion shredded beef sandwiches. These cuts of beef are tough, but they become tender and flavorful when cooked slowly in liquid.
  • Brown the beef before cooking it in the slow cooker. This will help to develop the flavor of the beef and prevent it from becoming dry.
  • Use a good quality beef broth. The beef broth is the base of the sauce, so it's important to use a good quality broth that has a lot of flavor.
  • Add plenty of onions. Onions are the star of this dish, so don't be afraid to add a lot of them. You can use yellow onions, white onions, or red onions.
  • Cook the beef on low heat for at least 8 hours. This will give the beef time to become tender and flavorful.
  • Serve the beef on toasted French bread or hoagie rolls. You can also add your favorite toppings, such as cheese, lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise.

Conclusion:

Slow cooker French onion shredded beef sandwiches are a delicious and easy meal that can be enjoyed by the whole family. The beef is tender and flavorful, and the sauce is rich and savory.
