Time 4h40m

Yield 6 to 8 servings

Number Of Ingredients 17

Unsalted butter, for greasing insert
3 tablespoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons orange juice
Two 12-ounce bags frozen peaches (about 8 cups)
2/3 cup granulated sugar
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
Pinch fine salt
4 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
3/4 cup milk
1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon almond extract, optional
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/4 cup sour cream
2 tablespoons confectioners' sugar

Steps:

  • For the filling: Butter the sides and bottom of the insert of a 6-quart slow cooker. Whisk together the cornstarch, orange juice and 1 tablespoon water in a small bowl. Add the mixture to the insert, add the peaches and granulated sugar and toss.
  • For the biscuit topping: Whisk together the flour, 2 tablespoons of the granulated sugar, baking powder and salt in a large bowl. Add the butter and rub the mixture together with your fingertips so that it forms a coarse meal with some pea-sized lumps. Add the milk and almond extract if using and stir with a wooden spoon to form a wet dough.
  • Drop spoonfuls of the dough on top of the peach mixture. Combine the remaining 1 tablespoon granulated sugar with the cinnamon and ginger and sprinkle over the dough. Cover the slow cooker and set to high for 3 to 4 hours. The cobbler should be bubbly and the biscuits should be cooked through. Let rest for 20 minutes before serving.
  • For the sour cream topping: Meanwhile, combine the heavy cream, sour cream and confectioners' sugar in a medium bowl and beat with an electric mixture until the mixture forms medium peaks.
  • Spoon the cobbler into bowls and top with the whipped sour cream topping.

SLOW COOKER PEACH COBBLER

slow cooker peach cobbler image

this is a great cobbler it's simple and easy to make everyone loves it

Provided by Patsy Fowler

Categories     Fruit Desserts

Time 3h15m

Number Of Ingredients 6

4 c fresh or frozen sliced peeled peaches1/4
1/4 c sugar
1 c origional bisquick mix
1/2 c sugar
1 c milk
ice cream or whipped topping

Steps:

  • 1. Spray a 6 quart slow cooker with cooking spray. In a large bowl gently toss peaches and 1/4 cup of the sugar. Then into slow cooker.
  • 2. In medium bowl gently beat bisquick mix, sugar and milk with whisk until blended. Pour over peaches in slow cooker. Cover and cook on low setting 3 hours or until cobbler is set in center. Serve with ice cream.

Tips:

  • Choose ripe peaches: For the best flavor, use ripe, juicy peaches. Avoid peaches that are too hard or too soft.
  • Peel the peaches if desired: Peeling the peaches is not necessary, but it will give the cobbler a smoother texture. To peel the peaches, simply use a sharp knife to score a shallow X in the bottom of each peach. Then, place the peaches in a bowl of boiling water for 1-2 minutes, or until the skins start to peel away. Remove the peaches from the boiling water and immediately transfer them to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process. Once the peaches are cool enough to handle, peel away the skins.
  • Use a variety of spices: In addition to the cinnamon and nutmeg, you can also add other spices to the cobbler, such as ginger, cardamom, or allspice.
  • Don't overcook the cobbler: The cobbler is done when the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling. Overcooking the cobbler will make the crust tough and the filling dry.

Conclusion:

Peach cobbler is a classic summer dessert that is easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser. With just a few simple ingredients, you can make a delicious peach cobbler that will be the perfect ending to any meal. So next time you have a craving for something sweet, give this peach cobbler recipe a try. You won't be disappointed!
