Tips:

  • Choose the right kind of cornbread mix. Some mixes are better suited for tamale pie than others. Look for a mix that is not too sweet and has a coarse texture.
  • Don't overcook the cornbread. Overcooked cornbread will be dry and crumbly. Bake it just until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Use high-quality chili. The chili is a key component of tamale pie, so it's important to use a good one. Look for a chili that is flavorful and has a good balance of spices.
  • Don't skimp on the cheese. Cheese is what makes tamale pie so gooey and delicious. Use a generous amount of shredded cheese, and choose a cheese that melts well.
  • Serve tamale pie with your favorite toppings. Some popular toppings include sour cream, salsa, guacamole, and diced tomatoes.

Conclusion:

Tamale pie is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a weeknight meal. It's also a great way to use up leftover chili. With its simple ingredients and customizable toppings, tamale pie is a dish that everyone will enjoy.
