Categories     Sour Cream

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 cup uncooked rice
1 pint sour cream
1/2 to 3/4 lb. sharp white chedder cheese
Cayenne pepper
Paprika

Steps:

  • Cook rice (can be done ahead and set to cool) Mix cooked rice, sour cream and cheese together with some cayenne. top w/ paprika/cayenne to taste. bake at 350 for 30 mins or until edges begin to brown and middle is hot.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients: The quality of your ingredients will greatly impact the flavor of your sour cream rice. Use fresh, high-quality rice, sour cream, and vegetables.
  • Cook the rice properly: Be sure to cook the rice according to the package directions. Undercooked rice will be hard and unpleasant to eat, while overcooked rice will be mushy.
  • Use a heavy-bottomed pot: A heavy-bottomed pot will help to distribute heat evenly and prevent the rice from sticking to the bottom of the pot.
  • Don't overcrowd the pot: When cooking the rice, be sure not to overcrowd the pot. This will prevent the rice from cooking evenly.
  • Add the sour cream and vegetables at the end: The sour cream and vegetables should be added to the rice at the very end of the cooking process. This will help to prevent them from overcooking and becoming mushy.
  • Season to taste: Be sure to season the sour cream rice to taste with salt, pepper, and other spices. You can also add a squeeze of lemon juice for a bit of brightness.

Conclusion:

Sour cream rice is a delicious and easy-to-make side dish that can be enjoyed with a variety of main courses. It is a great way to use up leftover rice, and it can also be made ahead of time and reheated. With a few simple tips, you can make sure your sour cream rice turns out perfect every time.
