SOUTH-WEST MARINADE

South-West Marinade image

I took this recipe on www.recettes.qc.ca It's yummy with pork, chicken and even beef. The marinade is enough for 2 pork tenderloin. I didn't include cooking time cause it depends on which cut of meat you use. You can put your meat in the marinade and freeze for later.

Categories     Low Protein

Time 5m

Yield 12 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 cup ketchup
3 tablespoons red wine vinegar
1 teaspoon garlic powder or 3 garlic cloves, chopped
3 -4 tablespoons brown sugar (I always use 3)
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/4 cup molasses
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1 bay leaf

Steps:

  • Mix everything in a bowl or a ziplock bag. Put the meat in it for at least 1 hour. But it's really yummy overnight. And I even let some pork tenderloin in it for 48 hours. I like to cut the pork tenderloin in slices lenghwise. That way it absorbs more marinade.
  • Cook on the bbq but it can also be cook in oven or in a skillet. You can brush with the remaining marinade while it cooks.

Tips:

  • Choose the right cut of meat: For best results, choose a tender cut of meat, such as flank steak, skirt steak, or chicken breasts.
  • Tenderize the meat: To make the meat more tender, you can use a meat mallet or a fork to tenderize it before marinating.
  • Use a flavorful marinade: The key to a great Southwest marinade is using a blend of spices and herbs that will infuse the meat with flavor. Some popular ingredients to use in a Southwest marinade include chili powder, cumin, garlic, oregano, and lime juice.
  • Marinate the meat for at least 30 minutes, but no longer than 24 hours: Marinating the meat for too long can make it tough, so be sure to marinate it for the right amount of time.
  • Cook the meat over high heat: To get a nice char on the meat, cook it over high heat. This will also help to seal in the juices and keep the meat moist.
  • Serve the meat with your favorite sides: Southwest-marinated meat can be served with a variety of sides, such as rice, beans, tortillas, or vegetables.

Conclusion:

A Southwest marinade is a great way to add flavor and tenderness to your favorite cuts of meat. With its blend of spices and herbs, a Southwest marinade will give your meat a unique and delicious flavor that is sure to please everyone at the table. So next time you're looking for a new way to cook meat, give a Southwest marinade a try.
