Tips:

  • Use fresh, tender spinach: Wilted or bruised spinach will not make a good salad.
  • Wash the spinach thoroughly: Make sure to rinse the spinach several times in cold water to remove any dirt or grit.
  • Dry the spinach completely: Use a salad spinner or pat the spinach dry with paper towels to remove excess water.
  • Choose a variety of toppings: This will add flavor and texture to the salad. Some good options include sliced almonds, crumbled bacon, hard-boiled eggs, and chopped avocado.
  • Use a light dressing: A heavy dressing will overpower the delicate flavor of the spinach. A simple vinaigrette or lemon-tahini dressing is a good choice.
  • Serve the salad immediately: Spinach salad is best when served fresh. If you need to make it ahead of time, store the dressed salad in the refrigerator for up to 2 hours.
