BUFFALO CHEX MIX

Buffalo Chex Mix image

This is a variation on the original Chex mix based on Buffalo chicken wing sauce. I got it from a newspaper coupon. Very easy and delicious - a bit spicy! Add more or less hot sauce to your liking. Would be great served with ranch or bleu cheese dressing for dipping.

Time 50m

Yield 24 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

4 cups Rice Chex
4 cups wheat Chex cereal
2 cups parmesan fish shaped crackers
2 cups pretzels, small
8 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons hot sauce (I use Louisiana brand)
1 (1 ounce) packet ranch dressing mix
2 teaspoons celery seeds

Steps:

  • Mix cereals, crackers and pretzels in large bowl. Set aside.
  • Line 2 cookie sheets with foil. Set oven for 350 degrees.
  • Melt butter in microwave, add hot sauce and seasonings and mix well. Pour over cereal mix and stir until evenly coated. Put half of mix on each cookie sheet and spread out evenly.
  • Bake both sheets at 350 for 20 minutes, then stir mix. Reverse sheets in oven (switch places). Bake an additional 20 minutes, checking to make sure it isn't getting too browned (mine took the full 40 minutes).
  • Spread on paper towels to cool. Store in airtight container.

Tips:

  • Use fresh ingredients: Stale or old ingredients can ruin the flavor of your Buffalo Chex Mix. Make sure to use fresh buffalo sauce, ranch dressing mix, and pretzels.
  • Don't be afraid to experiment: There are many different ways to make Buffalo Chex Mix. You can add other ingredients, such as nuts, seeds, or dried fruit. You can also adjust the amount of buffalo sauce and ranch dressing mix to suit your taste.
  • Make sure the Chex Mix is evenly coated: When you add the buffalo sauce and ranch dressing mix, make sure to stir the Chex Mix until it is evenly coated. This will help to ensure that every piece of Chex Mix has the same great flavor.
  • Bake the Chex Mix until it is golden brown: Baking the Chex Mix will help to give it a crispy texture. Bake it for the full amount of time specified in the recipe, or until it is golden brown.
  • Let the Chex Mix cool before serving: Once the Chex Mix is baked, let it cool for a few minutes before serving. This will help to prevent it from being too hot to eat.

Conclusion:

Buffalo Chex Mix is a delicious and easy-to-make snack that is perfect for parties, potlucks, or game days. It is a great way to use up leftover Chex Mix, and it is also a fun snack to make with kids. With its spicy and tangy flavor, Buffalo Chex Mix is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it.
