Tips:

  • To choose the ripest rhubarb, look for firm, reddish stalks that are not too thick. Avoid stalks that are wilted or have brown spots.
  • If you are using frozen rhubarb, thaw it completely before using. This will help prevent the stewed rhubarb from becoming too watery.
  • To hull strawberries, remove the green tops and slice the berries in half or quarters, depending on their size.
  • Use a large pot or Dutch oven to make the stewed strawberry and rhubarb. This will give the fruit plenty of room to cook without overcrowding.
  • Bring the fruit and sugar to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the fruit is softened and the sauce has thickened.
  • Serve the stewed strawberry and rhubarb warm or cold. It can be enjoyed on its own, over pancakes or waffles, or as a topping for ice cream or yogurt.

Conclusion:

Stewed strawberry and rhubarb is a delicious and versatile dish that can be enjoyed in many different ways. It is a great way to use up fresh fruit, and it can be easily customized to suit your own taste preferences. Whether you serve it warm or cold, on its own or with other dishes, stewed strawberry and rhubarb is sure to be a hit.
