STRAW HAT
Steps:
- Brown hamburger meat in a skillet. Just before it is done, add onion and garlic. Mix in Taco Seasoning Mix according to package directions. Heat Ranch Style Beans. Crush chips. To serve, layer crushed chips (try Nacho Cheese Doritos for extra flavor), beans, meat, cheese, lettuce and tomatoes. Top with dressing. (Using Catalina is traditional, but my husband loves this with Ranch dressing instead.) You can leave the beans out if you wish, or substitute refried beans, pork and beans, etc. When it gave me the choice of picking the type of dish, I chose salad, but this is a full meal by itself.
Tips:
- Mise en place: Before you start cooking, make sure you have all your ingredients and equipment ready to go. This will help you stay organized and avoid scrambling around while you're cooking.
- Use fresh ingredients: The fresher your ingredients, the better your dish will taste. Whenever possible, try to use organic produce and meats.
- Season your food well: Salt and pepper are essential for bringing out the flavor of your food. Don't be afraid to add a little bit more than you think you need.
- Cook your food to the proper temperature: This is especially important for meat and poultry. Check the recommended cooking temperature for your specific dish and make sure to use a meat thermometer to ensure that your food is cooked through.
- Don't overcrowd your pan: When you're cooking meat, fish, or vegetables, make sure to give them enough space in the pan so that they can cook evenly.
- Let your food rest before serving: This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the dish, resulting in a more tender and flavorful meal.
