Provided by Food Network

Time 25m

Yield 8 to 10 (4-inch) waffles

Number Of Ingredients 14

2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 large eggs, separated
2 tablespoons sugar
2 cups whole milk
4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, melted
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

In a third bowl, beat the egg whites with an electric mixer until soft peaks form, about 1 minute.Using a rubber spatula, gently fold the egg whites into the waffle batter, being careful not to overmix. Coat the waffle iron with nonstick cooking spray, if required, and pour enough batter in the iron to just cover the waffle grid. • Serve immediately with Strawberry Syrup spooned over the top of each waffle.
  • In a medium saucepan, combine all the ingredients and bring to a boil. Lower the heat and simmer until the strawberries are soft and the syrup is thickened and reduced by one-third to one-half in volume, 15 to 18 minutes.
  • Remove from the heat and let cool to room temperature before serving. (If thinner syrup is desired, strain the hot syrup through a fine mesh strainer into a clean container and let cool.)

Tips:

  • Use fresh strawberries: Fresh strawberries have the best flavor and texture. If you can't find fresh strawberries, you can use frozen strawberries, but thaw them completely before using.
  • Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing the batter will make the waffles tough. Mix the batter just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Cook the waffles on a hot waffle iron: A hot waffle iron will help the waffles cook evenly and prevent them from sticking.
  • Serve the waffles immediately: Waffles are best served hot and fresh. If you need to keep them warm, place them in a preheated oven set to 200 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Top the waffles with your favorite toppings: There are endless possibilities for toppings for strawberry-topped waffles. Some popular choices include butter, syrup, whipped cream, fruit, and nuts.

Conclusion:

Strawberry-topped waffles are a delicious and easy-to-make breakfast or brunch recipe. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a dish that is both flavorful and visually appealing. Whether you serve them with butter and syrup, whipped cream and fruit, or your favorite nuts, strawberry-topped waffles are sure to be a hit.
