Time 3h40m

Number Of Ingredients 6

Salt & pepper
4 lb pork loin
1/2 c honey
1/4 c each - orange juice & olive oil
1 tsp dried thyme
3/4 - 1 c chicken broth

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 375 degree F. Rinse and pat dry loin. Sprinkle salt and pepper all over. In a roaster, add chicken broth. Place seasoned pork loin in roaster. I use my clay roaster.
  • 2. Mix together juice, honey, thyme and oil, then pour over the pork.
  • 3. Bake for 3 - 3 1/2 hours, or 45 minutes per pound - basting each half hour until pork is tender and cooked through.
  • 4. Place juices in a saucepan and reduce if preferred to pour over sliced pork. yum!

Tips:

  • Choose the right pork loin: Look for a loin that is evenly marbled with fat and has a pinkish-red color. Avoid any pork loin that is too lean or has a grayish tint.
  • Prepare the pork loin properly: Before cooking, remove any excess fat from the pork loin and pat it dry with paper towels. This will help the pork loin cook evenly and prevent it from drying out.
  • Season the pork loin generously: Pork loin is a relatively bland meat, so it is important to season it well. Use a variety of herbs and spices to create a flavorful rub or marinade.
  • Cook the pork loin to the proper temperature: The internal temperature of a cooked pork loin should be 145 degrees Fahrenheit. Use a meat thermometer to ensure that the pork loin is cooked to the proper temperature.
  • Let the pork loin rest before carving: After cooking, let the pork loin rest for 10-15 minutes before carving. This will help the juices redistribute throughout the meat and make it more tender.

Conclusion:

Pork loin is a versatile and delicious cut of meat that can be cooked in a variety of ways. Whether you are roasting, grilling, or pan-frying pork loin, be sure to follow these tips to ensure that you end up with a juicy and flavorful dish.
