Here is a simple and delicious ice cream recipe that does not require an ice cream maker! For a different flare try substituting 1/2 cup of the heavy whipping cream with flavored coffee creamer (I would reccomend not using the low fat kind) or egg nog. You can also sub the vanilla for any other flavor extract. Freezing time (cooking time) varies on how shallow your container is. I would sugest using this up within a week for best taste. Enjoy! --Recipe modified from "Quick Cook"

Categories     Fruit Desserts

Time 5m

Number Of Ingredients 5

2 c half and half
1 1/2 c sugar
1/2 c baking cocoa
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 c heavy cream

Steps:

  • 1. Combine half-and-half, sugar, cocoa and vanilla in a blender; process on low until smooth. Stir in heavy cream. Freeze in an ice cream freezer according to manufacturer's directions. Yield: 1-1/2 quarts.

Tips:

  • Use ripe bananas: The riper the bananas, the sweeter and creamier your ice cream will be.
  • Freeze your bananas in advance: This will help them blend more smoothly and create a creamier texture.
  • Use high-quality ingredients: The better the ingredients you use, the better your ice cream will taste.
  • Don't over-blend the ice cream: Over-blending can make the ice cream icy and grainy.
  • Add mix-ins after the ice cream has started to freeze: This will help prevent them from sinking to the bottom of the bowl.

Conclusion:

Making ice cream at home is a fun and easy way to enjoy a delicious and refreshing treat. With just a few simple ingredients and a blender, you can create a variety of delicious ice cream flavors. So get creative and experiment with different flavors and toppings to find your perfect ice cream recipe.
