TANGY HONEY GLAZED HAM

Tangy Honey Glazed Ham image

I came up with the glaze for this ham using ingredients on hand and it's the best I've ever tasted. If you have any glaze left over, you can add it to the pan drippings with a little flour or cornstarch and make a nice sauce to accompany the meat. Use the bone and ham trimmings to make soup afterwards.

Tips:

  • Choosing the right ham: Select a fully cooked ham for easy preparation. Bone-in hams offer more flavor, while boneless hams are more convenient to carve.
  • Scoring the ham: Scoring the ham's surface allows the glaze to penetrate and caramelize during baking, enhancing the flavor.
  • Preparing the glaze: Use a combination of tangy ingredients like orange juice, pineapple juice, brown sugar, and mustard to create a flavorful glaze.
  • Baking the ham: Bake the ham in a preheated oven, covered with foil, to retain moisture and prevent drying out. Baste the ham with the glaze every 20-30 minutes to keep it moist and caramelized.
  • Resting the ham: Before carving, let the ham rest for 15-20 minutes to redistribute the juices and ensure a tender and flavorful result.

Conclusion:

This Tangy Glazed Ham recipe provides a delicious and impressive main course for special occasions or family gatherings. With its sweet and tangy glaze, succulent texture, and easy preparation, this ham is sure to be a crowd-pleaser.
