FRESH TOMATO BASIL LINGUINE

This is my new favorite pasta recipe. I've made it about 10 times the last few months because it's so easy and so good. It's adapted from a grocery store recipe. It's great even without the chicken. You can add onion to this also by sauteing some in the olive oil before adding the tomatoes. Please use all fresh ingredients for the best results.

LINGUINE WITH FRESH TOMATO AND BASIL PRINT RECIPE - (4.5/5)

LINGUINE WITH FRESH TOMATO AND BASIL PRINT Recipe - (4.5/5) image

Provided by รก-17861

Number Of Ingredients 9

Ingredients
8 OZ linguine, uncooked
3 medium tomatoes,chopped
1/3 cup thinly sliced fresh basil
1 Tsb. olive oil
1 clove garlic, minced
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
3/4 cup Digiorno Shredded Parmesan Cheese (or any other brand)

Steps:

  • Directions Cook linguine as directed on package. Meanwhile, mix tomatoes, basil, oil, garlic, salt and pepper in large bowl. Add drained linguine and cheese, toss lightly. Serve immediately.

Tips:

  • Choose the right tomatoes: Vine-ripened, in-season tomatoes will give your pasta the best flavor. If you can't find fresh tomatoes, use canned whole tomatoes or diced tomatoes in a can.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan: When cooking the tomatoes, don't overcrowd the pan. This will prevent them from cooking evenly and will make the sauce watery.
  • Use a good quality olive oil: Olive oil is an essential ingredient in Italian cooking. Choose a good quality extra virgin olive oil for the best flavor.
  • Add the basil at the end: Basil is a delicate herb that can easily be overpowered by other ingredients. Add it to the sauce at the end of cooking to preserve its flavor.
  • Don't overcook the pasta: Pasta is best when it is cooked al dente, or slightly firm to the bite. Overcooked pasta will be mushy and unpleasant to eat.

Conclusion:

Tomato basil linguine is a quick and easy pasta dish that is perfect for a weeknight meal. It is made with simple ingredients that are available at most grocery stores. With a few simple tips, you can make a delicious and satisfying pasta dish that everyone will enjoy.
