TURKEY THIGH SUPPER

This family-pleasing meal-in-one has it all-tender turkey thighs, tasty vegetables and a homemade sauce. I like to cook chicken breasts the same way. It's also good with honey-flavored barbecue sauce poured over the meat instead of the soup mixture.-Betty Gingrich, Oxford, Arkansas

Time 7h10m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

3 medium red potatoes, cut into chunks
1/2 lb fresh baby carrots
2 medium onions, cut into chunks
4 turkey thighs, skin removed
1 (10 3/4 ounce) can condensed tomato soup, undiluted
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1 teaspoon italian seasoning
1/2-1 teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • In a 5 quart slow cooker, layer the potatoes, carrots and onions. Top with turkey thighs.
  • Combine soup, water, garlic, italian seasoning and salt; pour over turkey.
  • Cover and cook on high 7-8 hours or until a meat thermometer reads 170 degrees and vegetables are tender.

Tips:

  • Choose a well-proportioned turkey thigh. Look for one that is plump and has a good amount of meat on it. You want to avoid thighs that are too bony or fatty.
  • Season the turkey thigh generously. Use a combination of salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and any other spices that you like. Be sure to rub the seasoning into the meat so that it can penetrate deeply.
  • Cook the turkey thigh over medium heat. This will help to prevent the meat from drying out. You can cook the thigh in a skillet, a roasting pan, or on a grill.
  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure that the turkey thigh is cooked through. The internal temperature should reach 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Let the turkey thigh rest before carving. This will help the juices to redistribute throughout the meat, making it more tender and flavorful.

Conclusion:

Turkey thighs are a versatile and delicious cut of meat that can be cooked in a variety of ways. By following the tips above, you can ensure that your turkey thigh turns out perfectly every time. So next time you're looking for a hearty and flavorful meal, give turkey thighs a try.
