LILY TWIG SALAD
I have no idea where the name of this salad came from but it is delicious. This recipe is from my sister and is a hit every time I serve it. I have never had leftovers and usually find myself foraging in the kitchen to make more no matter how much I made. I am usually not a fan of sweet dressings, but this one complements the saltiness of the bacon and the tang of the cheese beautifully. **The amounts for the salad are approximate. Use as much or as little as you want to suit your taste. Prep time includes the time it takes to cook the bacon**

I'm not sure why this is called twig salad, but it is so delicious that you won't care what it is called. It is a great crunchy combination with a sweet dressing that is perfect for any meal. I give credit to my friend, Mona who provided this recipe in our church cookbook.

Tips:
- Choose tender twigs: Select young, tender twigs from trees or shrubs that are known to be edible. Avoid twigs that are woody or have a bitter taste.
- Harvest twigs at the right time: The best time to harvest twigs is in the spring or early summer when they are young and tender. Avoid harvesting twigs in the fall or winter when they are more woody and less flavorful.
- Wash twigs thoroughly: Before using, wash the twigs thoroughly under running water to remove any dirt or debris.
- Remove leaves and buds: Remove any leaves or buds from the twigs before using them in a salad. This will help to improve the flavor and texture of the salad.
- Chop twigs finely: Chop the twigs finely before adding them to the salad. This will make them easier to eat and will help to distribute their flavor throughout the salad.
- Use a variety of twigs: Don't be afraid to experiment with different types of twigs. Some popular choices include maple, birch, and willow twigs. Each type of twig has its own unique flavor and texture.
- Add other ingredients to your salad: In addition to twigs, you can add other ingredients to your salad such as fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds. This will help to create a well-rounded and flavorful salad.
- Dress your salad with a light vinaigrette: A light vinaigrette is a great way to dress a twig salad. This will help to enhance the flavor of the twigs and other ingredients in the salad.
Conclusion:
Twig salads are a unique and delicious way to enjoy the flavors of nature. By following these tips, you can create your own delicious and nutritious twig salad that is sure to impress your friends and family. So next time you're looking for a new and exciting salad recipe, give a twig salad a try!
