DILLHEAD1982'S ZESTY CHIP DIP

Dillhead1982's Zesty Chip Dip image

Self explanitory for the most part. This recipe was a part of my experimental streaks, where I combined a few of my favorite food elements (Naturally, one of them is dill weed) and mix them together. This is a fairly basic recipe, but nonetheless one of my favorite dips. The reason I didn't bother to be specific with quantity is that, although I like an equally strong strong presence of dill and chili flavor in the salsa, I have made it for others before who prefer different proportions, and I also change them to taste for myself occasionally. NOTE: The measurements for dill weed and chili powder are there only so that nutritional information could be provided. The dill weed and chili powder should still be equal parts, but not necessarily the exact measurement.

Time 30m

Yield 10

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 (16 ounce) jar large deli sliced jalapeno peppers (such as Mezzetta® Deli-Sliced Jalapenos)
½ cup sour cream
1 tablespoon dry ranch dressing mix
1 medium lime, zested and juiced
3 cups vegetable oil
½ cup all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon taco seasoning mix
⅓ cup water
¼ cup cornstarch

Steps:

  • Drain peppers and reserve 1/4 cup plus 1 teaspoon of brine from the jar. Pat peppers dry with paper towels.
  • Combine sour cream, ranch seasoning, the zest and juice of the lime, and one teaspoon of reserved jalapeño liquid. Stir well and set aside. This could be made up to 3 days ahead.
  • Pour oil in a small saucepan and heat over medium heat to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Whisk together flour, taco seasoning, remaining reserved jalapeño juice, and water in a shallow dish until smooth. Toss dried jalapeños in cornstarch until lightly coated and shake off any excess. Coat slices in flour mixture with a fork and allow the excess to drip off.
  • Add several coated slices to the hot oil and fry until golden and crisp, 1 1/2 minutes. Transfer to a paper towel to drain and repeat with remaining jalapeños, in batches. Serve immediately with ranch dip.

Zesty Spinach Dip Recipe by Tasty image

Here's what you need: frozen spinach, cream cheese, shredded mozzarella cheese, grated parmesan cheese, Tasty Zesty Spice Blend, kosher salt, chip

Provided by Gwenaelle Le Cochennec

Categories     Appetizers

Time 12m

Yield 6 servings

Number Of Ingredients 7

20 oz frozen spinach
6 oz cream cheese, cubed
1 ¼ cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
5 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese, divided
1 tablespoon Tasty Zesty Spice Blend, plus more for topping
½ teaspoon kosher salt
chip, or carrots or celery sticks, for serving

Steps:

  • In a medium microwave-safe bowl, microwave the spinach until completely defrosted, about 5 minutes. Remove from the microwave and let sit until cool enough to handle, about 5 minutes.
  • Transfer the spinach to a surface lined with 4 paper towels. Gather the towels around the spinach and position over the bowl. Wring out to remove all of the moisture. Discard any excess liquid that accumulates in the bottom of the bowl.
  • Return the spinach to the bowl and add the cream cheese, 1 cup (100 g) shredded mozzarella, 4 tablespoons Parmesan, the zesty spice blend, and salt.
  • Microwave for 4 minutes, stirring halfway, until the cream cheese is completely softened and the mozzarella is melted. Stir well to combine, then microwave for 30 seconds more to melt any remaining cream cheese clumps.
  • Top with remaining ¼ cup mozzarella and tablespoon of Parmesan. Return to the microwave for 1½-2 minutes, until the mozzarella on top is melted. Sprinkle with more zesty spice blend.
  • Serve with chips, carrots, or celery.
