These are my favorite cookies. I've seen them chocolate snowballs, chocolate crinkles and chocolate snowflake cookies. Whichever name you call them these are delicious cookies.

4 oz (4 squares) baker's unsweetened baking chocolate, melted

4 eggs, one at a time

2 tsp baking powder

  • 1. Combine ingredients as listed above. Chill dough at least 4 hours or over night.
  • 2. Roll into small balls or use a melon scoop to measure dough. Roll balls in sifted powdered sugar.
  • 3. Place balls one inch apart on greased cookie sheet and bake in preheated oven at 375 for 10 - 12 minutes. Remove from cookie sheets and place on wire racks to cool. Cool completely before storing
  • 4. I like to use 1 tsp vanilla and 1 tsp almond extract. you can also use 1 tsp vanilla and 1 tsp peppermint extract instead of 2 tsp vanilla.

I dipped the macaroons in melted dark chocolate before rolling them in coconut. It made them look extra special.

I added a teaspoon of vanilla extract to the batter. It gave the macaroons a really nice flavor.

I didn't have any chocolate chips on hand, so I used chopped dark chocolate instead. It worked out great!

The macaroons were a bit too crumbly for my taste.

The macaroons spread out too much in the oven. I think I should have chilled the dough for longer before baking.

I had a hard time getting the macaroons to set properly. I think I might have overmixed the batter.
