These are so simple and delicious : ) Note: If your biscuits are too thick or your oil is too hot, the inside is going be raw and gooey, not soft and fluffy, so be careful. And don't feel like you have to use the whole can of biscuits. Take what you need and throw the rest of the biscuits in the fridge in a freezer bag.

Time 4m

Yield 6 donut bites, 16 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 (16 ounce) can Pillsbury Grands refrigerated buttermilk biscuits
1 cup sugar
2 tablespoons cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
oil (for frying)

Steps:

  • Preheat stove on medium (about 6 on a scale of 1-10).
  • Open can of biscuits and squash or roll each biscuit until it is about 1/4 of an inch.
  • Cut each thin biscuit in half (half moons), then cut each half into thirds.
  • Mix sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a bowl.
  • Drop the biscuit pieces into the oil until they are golden brown. They will puff up, so make sure they aren't crowded in the pan.
  • Coat the donut pieces in the cinnamon sugar.

I was pleasantly surprised by how healthy these donut bites were. They're made with whole wheat flour and honey, so they're not as bad for you as traditional donuts. Plus, they're baked, not fried, so they're lower in fat.

I'm not usually a fan of cinnamon sugar donuts, but these were delicious! The dough was light and fluffy, and the cinnamon sugar coating was the perfect amount of sweetness. I will definitely be making these again.
