Steps:
- 350 oven 8" square pan Mix sugar and butter, add egg yolk and vanilla. Sift in dry ingredients. Stir in dates, spread into prepared pan. Beat egg white until stiff, spread on top. Sprinkle on chopped walnuts, pressing into the egg white. bake 25-30 min, until skewer comes out clean. cut into small squares
