1 chocolate cake mix, Devil's Food Chocolate works well.
1 can 7-Up, Sprite, or Ginger Ale soda
2 cans Cherry Pie filling

Steps:

  • Put cake mix in Dutch oven, dump in pie filling and the can of soda, stir in Dutch Oven, cook about an hour, turning the pot every 10 minutes or so, to cook evenly. This is the best black forest cobbler recipe I've ever tried. The crust is flaky and the filling is sweet and tart. I love that it's not too sweet, so you can really taste the cherries.

I've made this cobbler twice now and it's always been a success. The first time I made it, I used fresh cherries. The second time, I used frozen cherries. Both times, the cobbler turned out great.
