- 1.Preheat oven to 400, Lightly grease a doughnut pan. 2.In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, nutmeg,and salt. Stir in buttermilk, eggs, vanilla and melted butter. Beat together until well blended. 3.Fill each doughnut cup approximately 3/4 full. Bake 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, until doughnuts spring back when touched. Allow to cool slightly before removing from pan. 4. Once finished, a quick dunk in melted butter and a roll in white sugar, granulated brown sugar and cinnamon (combined of course) or to make glaze, blend confectioners' sugar, hot water and almond extract in a small bowl. Dip doughnuts in the glaze when serving.
