Frosted Walnut Brownies image

You can't go wrong with this traditional treat. These fudgy frosty squares travel well to potlucks and picnics and are sure to be one of the first desserts to disappear. -Pat Yaeger, Naples, Florida

Yield 2-1/2 dozen.

Number Of Ingredients 14

4 ounces unsweetened chocolate, chopped
1 cup canola oil
2 cups sugar
4 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup chopped walnuts
FROSTING:
2 tablespoons butter
2 ounces unsweetened chocolate
2-1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
1/4 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. In a large microwave-safe bowl, heat chocolate until melted. Add oil and sugar; mix well. Stir in eggs and vanilla. Add flour and salt; mix well. Stir in the nuts. Pour into a greased 13x9-in. baking pan. , Bake 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with moist crumbs (do not overbake). Cool on a wire rack., For frosting, melt butter and chocolate; stir until smooth. Cool to room temperature. In a bowl, combine the chocolate mixture, confectioners' sugar, milk and vanilla until smooth. Frost brownies.
