Hoosier Fried Bluegill image

Simple is usually best with freshly caught fish. Here is how my Dad liked his bluegill prepared.

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 lb fresh caught, cleaned bluegill
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp freshly ground black pepper
1/2 tsp garlic salt
1 c yellow cornmeal
vegetable oil for frying

Steps:

  • 1. Clean fish and pat dry with paper towels. Mix dry ingredients in a plastic bag. Place fish in bag one piece at a time and shake. Fry in a small amount of hot oil until outside is crispy and fish flakes easily with a fork. Drain on paper towels and serve hot with lemon wedges and tartar sauce.
