Maple Biscuit Dessert image

These biscuits have been made by the women in my family for a long time. We use the maple syrup we boil each sugaring season from the trees on our land.

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup shortening
3/4 cup milk
1-1/2 cups maple syrup

Steps:

  • In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt; cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add milk; stir just until moistened. Turn onto a lightly floured surface; roll to 1/2-in. thickness. Cut with a 2-in biscuit cutter. Pour syrup into an 11x7-in. baking dish. Place biscuit on top of syrup. Bake at 450° for 12-15 minutes or until biscuits are golden brown.
