Mexi Taco Pie image

A friend gave me this recipe. Haven't tried it but she's a great cook so I'm sure this is a good recipe.

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 lb ground beef
1 pkg taco seasoning mix
1 c picante sauce (8 oz)
1 large egg
1 9 in. frozen pie crust
1/2 c monterey jack cheese, shredded
1 can(s) chopped green chilis
1 c monterey jack cheese, shredded
1/3 c tortilla chips, broken
garnish: shredded lettuce, sour cream, picante sauce, onions, tomatoes

Steps:

  • 1. Brown ground chuck and drain fat. Put back in pan and stir in 1 envelope taco seasoning mix and 1 cup picante sauce.
  • 2. Remove from heat and stir in lightly beaten egg.
  • 3. In this order, layer 1/2 cup Monterey Jack cheese, 1 can chopped green chilis, cooked ground beef mixture, 1 cup Monterey Jack cheese, and 1/3 cup tortilla chips.
  • 4. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes (place casserole on a cookie sheet for baking).
  • 5. Garnish with lettuce, tomato, sour cream, picante sauce, onion, olives -- go crazy! You choose!
