Millionaire Pie image

Easy to prepare and fun...both to make, and eat. This pie got its name because it tastes like so much more than it really is. I have pared down some of the ingredients to save on calories and fat, without compromising the taste!

Time 15m

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 c sugar
1 pkg (8 oz.) reduced fat cream cheese-softened
1 can(s) (15 oz) crushed pineapple-drained
1 pkg (8 oz) light or fat free whipped topping
1/2 c chopped pecans
1 9 " prepared pie shell (flour or graham cracker)

Steps:

  • 1. In a small bowl, cream softened cream cheese with sugar.
  • 2. Add well drained pineapple, and the pecans Stir till blended.
  • 3. Fold in the thawed, whipped topping. When done, spoon the mixture into the prepared pie shell. Cover lightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 4 hours, or overnight before serving.
  • 4. Suggested garnishes- A small can of well drained Mandarin orange slices ( I, personally, am a big fan of the orange/pineapple combo), or about a 1/4 cup of finely chopped pecans, or about 1/2 cup flaked, sweetened coconut. (Note- if using coconut for a garnish-sprinkle on before chilling.)

The crust was a little dry, but the filling was delicious. I'll try adding some butter to the crust next time.

This pie is a bit too sweet for my taste, but it's still a good dessert. I think I'll try using a dark chocolate next time.

I'm not a huge fan of peanut butter, but I really enjoyed this pie. The chocolate and peanut butter flavors complement each other perfectly.
