Steak Strips with Dumplings image

I had this for dinner to night and its just delicious ! I got this recipe and picture off of Taste of home web site , it was posted by a John Smalldridge of Princeton Idaho.

3/4 lb beef top round steak ; cut into 1/2" strips
1/4 tsp pepper
2 tsp canola oil
2/3 c condensed cream of chicken soup ; undiluted
1/2 c beef broth
4 large fresh mushrooms ; sliced
1/4 c each ; chopped onion , green pepper , celery
DUMPLINGS
1/2 c all purpose flour
3/4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
2 Tbsp beaten egg
3 Tbsp 2% milk
1/2 tsp dried parsley flakes

Steps:

  • 1. Sprinkle steaks with pepper. In a small skillet , brown steak in oil over med-high heat.
  • 2. Transfer to a 1-1/2 Qt. slow cooker.
  • 3. Combine the soup , broth and vegetables and pour over steak.
  • 4. Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours.
  • 5. For dumplings ; in a small bowl , combine the flour , baking powder and salt.
  • 6. Stir in the egg and milk until blended.
  • 7. Drop by tablespoonsfuls onto meat mixture . sprinkle with parsley.
  • 8. Cover and cook on high for 1 hour or until tooth pick inserted in center comes out clean. NOTE : do not lift lid while cooking dumplings
