ZESTY MEATY SPAGHETTI SAUCE image

Main Ingredients:
1 tablespoon Olive Oil;
1 medium-size onion, finely chopped;
3 small garlic cloves, finely chopped;
1 pound (about 500 grams) lean ground beef;
1 large can (about 800 mL) diced tomatoes;
1 small can tomato paste;
Seasonings:
1/4 teaspoon pepper;
1/4 teaspoon paprika;
Small dash cayenne pepper;
1/2 teaspoon tabasco sauce;
1 teaspoon sugar;
1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar;
Splash of port or red wine to taste;
Dashes of rosemary; marjoram; oregano; basil; summer savory; thyme and tarragon;
2 bay leaves.

Steps:

  • Sauté onions and garlic in the olive oil in a large saucepan on high heat until the onions are transparent, stirring regularly. Add the ground beef, and brown the beef, stirring regularly until the beef is broken up. Reduce heat to medium. Add the diced tomatoes and tomato paste, stirring until well-mixed. Add the seasonings, stirring frequently. Reduce heat to low and let simmer for 2 to 3 hours. Serve with spaghetti or the pasta of your choice, complimented with a salad, crusty bread and a nice red wine.
