This was on a Facebook post, and I had to save it. Robert McCay Green of Philadelphia created the first root beer float in 1874. As the story goes, he was selling cold drinks to patrons at a local community celebration. It was a particularly hot day, and he eventually ran out of ice. He got creative and bought vanilla ice cream...

Number Of Ingredients 4

4 to 6 oz root beer
1 shot kahlua coffee liqueur
1 shot bailey's irish cream
1 scoop(s) vanilla ice cream

Steps:

  • 1. Fill a large parfait glass about 3/4 full with root beer (about 4 to 6 ounces).
  • 2. Add 1 shot of Kahlua and 1 shot of Bailey's.
  • 3. Float a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top, add a straw, and serve.
