All-In-One Chocolate Chip Cookies image

This is my all time favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe. I found it originally on the back of a package of Hershey Baking Pieces, which I don't think they even make anymore. I thought I lost the recipe there for a while but finally found it and was very happy. I'm posting the recipe on Zaar so I won't have to worry about losing it again. Oh, be sure to use real butter in this recipe.

Time 48m

Yield 5 dozen

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 cup butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 large eggs
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (I add 1/4 cup more, otherwise the cookies turn out too flat)
1 teaspoon baking soda
12 ounces milk chocolate chips

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375°F.
  • In large bowl, beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, vanilla and salt with electric mixer until creamy.
  • Add eggs; beat well.
  • Stir together flour and baking soda; gradually add to butter mixture, beating until well mixed.
  • Stir in chocolate chips.
  • Drop by rounded teaspoons onto ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Bake 8-10 minutes or until set.
  • Cool slightly; remove from cookie sheet to wire rack.

I love that this recipe uses melted butter instead of softened butter. It makes the cookies extra chewy.

I'm not a big fan of chocolate chip cookies, but these were actually pretty good. I might make them again sometime.

I followed the recipe exactly, but my cookies turned out dry and crumbly. I'm not sure what went wrong.

These cookies are a bit too sweet for my taste. I think I'll reduce the amount of sugar next time.

I wasn't sure how I felt about the addition of nuts to these cookies, but I'm so glad I tried it. They add a nice crunch and flavor.

I've tried many chocolate chip cookie recipes, but this one is definitely my new favorite. The cookies are soft and chewy, with just the right amount of chocolate chips.
