AMISH BROCCOLI/CAULIFLOWER SALAD image

I found this recipe on FB as posted by Emily Berkman. This is quickly becoming a favorite of ours. If this has been posted before I'm sorry to duplicate, but I couldn't find it. I'm sure this could also be made more healthy by using low-fat mayo and sour cream.....There is a picture on FB, but I'm having a hard time trying to...

Time 20m

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 broccoli, small florets
1 cauliflower, small florets
1 c mayonnaise
1 c sour cream
1/2 c sugar
1 tsp salt
1/2 lb bacon
1 c cheese, shredded

Steps:

  • 1. Mix mayonnaise, sour cream, sugar and salt together (so sugar will disolve).
  • 2. Fry 1/2 pound bacon until crisp. Let cool, then crumble.
  • 3. While bacon is cooking, chop broccoli and cauliflower into florets. Put in large bowl, add cheese, bacon and dressing. Mix well and put in refrigerator until ready to eat. Serve as a side or salad alone.

This is a great salad to make ahead of time for a party or potluck. The flavors really meld together after a few hours in the fridge. I also like to add some chopped bacon or crumbled hard-boiled eggs for extra flavor.
