Warm, delicious and not too sweet. You could substitute peaches or pineapple or just leave off the fruit altogether, if you like, to make plain Cheese Danish.

Time 35m

Number Of Ingredients 8

3 oz light cream cheese, softened
2 Tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 small pinch of cinnamon ... very small pinch
1 large apple, chopped
1 pkg refrigerated buttermilk biscuits
1/4 c pecans, in pieces
1/2 c caramel topping

Steps:

  • 1. In a small bowl, thoroughly whisk together the cream cheese, sugar, vanilla extract and a very tiny pinch of cinnamon. Sometimes I leave out the cinnamon, as I'm not a huge fan of it, but a tiny pinch works ok. More for your taste, if desired. Set mixture aside.
  • 2. Peel, core and slice the apples. Dice them finely with a knife, or use a food chopper. Set aside.
  • 3. Place the refrigerator biscuits on a cookie sheet or a stone. I use the "grands" w/ butter infused into them, but a 10-pack of reg'lar ol' biscuits will do, too. With a small rolling pin, or with the palm of your hand, flatten the biscuits on the cookie sheet.
  • 4. Spread the cream cheese mixture onto the flattened biscuits.
  • 5. Top the cream cheese with the diced apple.
  • 6. Sprinkle the pecans over the diced apple. (Most times, I don't have pecans on-hand, so I leave out this ingred...believe me, they're just as good!)
  • 7. With a small spoon, drizzle the caramel topping over the apple topping.
  • 8. Bake at 375° for 15 - 19 minutes. The 'grands' take closer to 19; the smaller biscuits are right at 15 minutes.
  • 9. Remove to a cooling rack, allow to cool for just a minute, and eat warm and gooey!

I love apple cheese danish, and this recipe did not disappoint! The cream cheese filling was smooth and flavorful, and the apples were tender and sweet. The pastry was also very flaky and buttery. I will definitely be making this again.

This was my first time making an apple cheese danish, and it turned out great! The instructions were easy to follow, and the danish was delicious. I used a store-bought puff pastry dough, which made it even easier. I will definitely be making this ag
