A&w Whistle Dog image

I worked at A&W in the Montreal area during my college years and, by far, these were the best "non-steamie" hot dog around! Easy to make and so tasty. In the '70s we used Canadian back bacon - nowadays, they use regular bacon - both taste great. Ohhhhh, the memories :-)

This recipe is a great way to use up leftover hot dogs. I made it with some leftover grilled hot dogs, and it was really good.

This recipe is a keeper! The Whistle Dog was juicy and flavorful. I used a sweet Italian sausage, and it was perfect. I also added a little bit of brown sugar to the glaze, and it gave it a nice caramelized flavor.
